Dr. Esmond is working today, Wednesday December 28th, 2006. He will be seeing patients with colds and flus. Please call the office for more information or to book an appointment. Dr. Esmond will also be working Thursday December 29th and Friday December 30th.
Dr. Pham is not returning to work until Tuesday January 3rd, 2006.

The staff of Grand Park Medical had their staff Christmas party tonight. Everyone had a great time. On behalf of Dr. Pham, the staff and myself, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. For more pictures of our party, check out the Picture Gallery Section of the website.
This afternoon the clinic will be closed until tomorrow morning due to our Christmas Party. Dr. Pham will be available the rest of the week, while Dr. Esmond will be on vacation.
There are a few new drugs coming into the market covering such things as HIV, Diabetes, and Psoriasis. The first is actually a 60 second in office test for HIV. Statistics show that there are about 17000 undiagnosed people with HIV in Canada. The next product coming out is Levemir (a new type of Insulin) that is long acting, and that has a lower risk of weight gain. One of the main drawbacks of insulin, is that it makes the patient gain weight which in turn worsens the sugar levels. Another new injection, is Raptiva, which can be used 
by the patient to help with psoriasis. The patient gives himself/herself a weekly injection. Zelnorm, which is currently being used to help treat irritable bowel with symptoms of constipation, recently got approved for Chronic Idiopathic (of no other cause) Constipation. As with all medications, there are risks and benefits to all treatments. Make sure to discuss both the cons and pros with your doctor.
Dr. Esmond will be on holidays next week beginning December 21st, 05. Dr. Pham will be in the office covering any major emergencies. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. Dr. Esmond will be available December 28th for colds and flus, or illnesses requiring Antibiotics.
