Glycolic Acid  and Lactic Acid Peels

Done In Office by Dr. Esmond

All Peels - $100 per peel

Who is a candidate?
People with:

  • Superficial wrinkles of the face, neck, upper chest and arms
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Enlarged facial pores
  • Superficial acne scars of the face
  • Age spots

What are the intended results?
Smoother, youthful skin that is more uniform in color.
What is the procedure?
This procedure is done on an outpatient basis. The actual peel only takes 1 to 5 minutes to do.  Light peels do not require any anesthesia. After preparing the skin, a glycolic acid concentration from 20 percent to 70 percent will be applied. Weekly facial peels for a period of about six weeks are typical for most patients.  To maintain the youthful appearance, you can get one peel per month.  The medical safe skin peels have replaced the old facials of the past.

What is the healing process?
You will be sent home with specific instructions. After light peels, the treated skin turns red or pink and heals without crusting.

Dr. Esmond can offer you a choice of Skin Peels :
70% Glycolic Peel or Lactic Acid Peel

The Skin Peels minimize the appearance of surface lines, smoothes out rough skin texture, aids in clearing acne and helps fade hyper-pigmentation (age spots / liver spots / freckles). A peel involves the application of a special solution containing alpha and beta hydroxyl acids to the surface of the skin to reveal the fresh skin beneath. It can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:

  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Fine wrinkling
  • Blotchy skin
  • Dry skin
  • Age spots, freckles
  • Sun damage
  • Melasma – facial pigmentation
  • Scarring

You can return to your normal activities immediately afterwards with the minimum of inconvenience.  Normally clinics charge $150 to $200 per treatment, but for our patients we charge only $100 per treatment.  Remember these peels are done by a medical doctor (Doctor Esmond).  Cosmetic schools charge $80 for a student to do it, so our low price for a professional treatment keeps us busy.  Book your appointment by calling our Cosmetic booking line at 905-808-7546.

meds.jpgAspirin was in the news again.  There is definitely credibility to the saying that an aspirin a day keeps a doctor away.  Once again we have a study showing that an aspirin prevents stroke in women, and heart attacks in men.  Viagra and Vision Problems.  There have been some reports of ischemic optic neuropathy in men who have a history of heart attacks or high blood pressure, and are taking viagra or cialis.  The Bird Flu may be weakening.  We are finding that the bird flu in Turkey is easier to spread to humans, but its giving a milder illness. Check out the fluwatch.ca section of our website for more information.

Which Hospital to go to?

computerpulse.jpgIn case of Emergency, the best hospital to go to is the Trillium Health Centre at Queensway and Hurontario.  The reason for this is that Dr. Pham and I are linked to it via computer, and therefore we can instantly access all your labs and tests that get done in the ER.  For instance, if you have a fractured arm, we will be able to see the xray of the broken bone instantly on our computer in the office.  No more missing ER reports, and quicker access to your ER labs means better care.

However, if you are a renal dialysis patient or an oncology patient from another hospital, it is best for you to seek emergency care there. They will have access to your latest dialysis records and/or your oncology recorns. In addition, they will be able to access your team of specialists should it be necessary.

Remember, if you are receiving C.C.A.C (Community Care Access Centre) Services (Home care nursing, homemaking etc) please remember to let the nurse in emergency know. They can have the Case Manager see you before you go home-if there needs to be any changes to your home care plan. If possible, please call your Case Manager at CCAC, or have a family member or friend call-so that your services will be put on hold and the hospital Case Manager will be sure to follow up with your needs.
